Named for a Floyd County Matriarch
Named after Cordelia, this shop honors a beloved Floyd County matriarch whose appreciation for community, hospitality, and the beauty of everyday life continues to inspire us today.
Cordelia F. Collins was born on Dec. 14, 1873 in the mountains of Floyd County, Virginia. She grew up in a small farming community where nearly everything a family needed was made by hand—soap, quilts, preserves, and tools.
Cordelia married Dr. Lafayette Slusher, the local doctor. Together they built a home rooted in hard work and kindness. Their home on Firehouse Road became a place where neighbors were always welcome.
The spirit of Cordelia lives on in the things made slowly and carefully by hand. The objects in this shop reflect the same values she lived by: simplicity, usefulness, and beauty in everyday things.
Thoughtfully collected stories from the shop and the heart of Floyd.
From new arrivals and seasonal inspiration to favorite Floyd traditions, or highlighting treasures that have found their way to our shelves, these notes offer a glimpse into the people, places, and craftsmanship that inspire Cordelia’s Fine Goods.
